Reno Francot und Ethan Ischer both shine at Brno

The fifth of six race events for the ACCR Czech Formula 4 Championship – which now has been certified by FIA and it’s name is from now on FIA F4 CEZ (Central European Zone) Championship, was held at the historical Brno circuit (CZ). Featuring quick chicanes and a mixed layout with elevation changes, our drivers quickly adapted to this challenging track and were excited to take on the penultimate round of the season!

FIA F4 CEZ Championship

Race One (25 minutes)

Saturday, 09/09/23, 10.30, Weather: Sunny, 24°C

The first race of the weekend got underway on Saturday morning under a bright blue sky. Starting from pole position, Reno had a good start when the lights went out but behind him, Ethan had a super getaway from fourth on the grid and immediately powered past Sauter to challenge Reno for the lead. The two teammates fought hard throughout the opening lap, with Reno resisting the attacks from Ethan. Behind them, Bjerre had dropped to 4th place but was still trying to put pressure on Sauter for the podium position, while Max moved up one position at the start and was now in 6th place. By the end of the opening laps, positions settled and despite the top three staying very close together and more attempts to put pressure on the one in front, the field reached the chequered flag without any position changes. Reno took another brilliant win, in front of Ethan who had gained two positions to finish 2nd. Bjerre crossed the finish line in 4th place, with Max not far behind in 6th position.

Race Two (25 minutes)

Saturday, 09/08/23, 15.25, Weather: Sunny, 27°C

Later on Saturday afternoon, the second and final race of the weekend got underway at Brno. Sharing the first row, Reno was starting in pole position in front of Ethan in second place. As the lights went out, their battle began. Like this morning, Ethan had a fantastic start and this time the Swiss driver managed to take the lead going into Turn 1, followed by Reno in second position. Behind them, Mathias had a rather cautious start and dropped down to 5th place, while Max kept 6th position. Lap after lap, Reno was building up his pace and getting closer to Ethan, but overtaking on the very fluid Brno circuit is very difficult and the young Dutch, though getting very close to Ethan, found no place to launch an overtaking maneuver. When the chequered flag waved, Ethan crossed the finish line first after a flawless race, followed closely by Reno in second position. Mathias, who had changed positions with Michl during the race, finished back in 5th place while, after a fight with Mikeš, Max crossed the line in 7th place.
