BOSCHUNG ON TOP - TUSCHER AND VARHAUG IN TOP FIVE

The GP3 teams met up on 18^th and 19^th March 2015 for the first test days of the new season at the demanding Circuito do Estoril near Lisbon (P) with 23 drivers in attendance. Pal Varhaug (NOR), Mathéo Tuscher (CH) and Ralph Boschung (CH) all drove for Jenzer Motorsport, in conditions that were changeable on the first day, but favourable on the second.

Rain fell overnight and so the first day started with a damp track, though it dried off quickly. By the afternoon the track was fully dry, despite dark clouds looming over the mountains. At the end of the morning our rookie Ralph was already up to a very good 9^th place in the order, while Mathéo was 14^th and Pal 17^th.

The top class field improved steadily during the afternoon, with Ralph seeming very much at ease as he set the best times in two out of the three sectors. By the end of the afternoon Ralph was classified 7^th only 0.228 seconds off the best time. Mathéo was also in a top ten position with 10^th place and 0.591 seconds off the fastest lap. Pal was a little further back in 18^th.

The sun came out on the second day and although dark clouds appeared again later, it stayed dry. Our drivers continued their work with qualifying- and race-simulation sessions as they embarked on the important process of getting to understand the 2015 tyre compound.

Ralph was not to be beaten in the morning session and set the best lap time overall, while Mathéo was 11^th and Pal 14^th. In the afternoon both Mathéo and Pal found their rhythm and ended the day in the top five, but no one was able to better Ralph’s time in the morning session. Our driver’s afternoon positions were 2^nd for Mathéo, 5^th for Pal, and 6^th for Ralph. Excellent!

The next official test days are on 9^th/10^th April in Valencia (E) and 22^nd/23^rd April 2015 in Barcelona (E). The first race of the new season will be part of the Formula 1 Grand Prix programme on 9^th/10^th May 2015 in Barcelona (E).
