FR2.0 EUROCUP – TESTING IN BARCELONA

FR2.0 Eurocup

The 12 Eurocup FR2.0 teams met for two days of testing in Barcelona, at the GP Circuit de Catalunya. 42 drivers took part on each day. We had hoped for nice weather at last but it was cool and overcast on the first day, and rained intermittently on the second day. This meant that conditions were very difficult as the team carried out development work on the new car.

Our drivers Marcos Siebert and Levin Amweg drove as best they could while Kevin Joerg was not allowed to take part under Eurocup rules. However we did have rookie driver Andrew Tang with us once again. The team worked hard to solve various electrical issues, and also conducted a development program with Patric Niederhauser driving Kevin Joerg’s car.

On the first day our drivers were classified between 23rd and 37th so we were hoping for better on day 2. The second day started with a wet track and conditions were very difficult. Towards lunchtime the track started to dry out and our drivers moved up the order leaving Patric in 3rd, Marcos 8th and Levin 11th. Andrew had an accident and was unable to improve on 40th as a result. In the Changeable conditions in the afternoon – and a decision to use less tyres than the other teams – didn’t prevent us from making some important discoveries about the car, and we are now confident that we are working in the right direction.

The next official test days have just been postponed due to further bad weather being forecast and will now be held on 15th/16th April at the RedBullRing (A).
