ALEX FONTANA IN GP3 WITH JENZER MOTORSPORT

GP3-Series

Nineteen year old Swiss racing driver Alex Fontana, currently leading the European Formula 3 Open championship, will make his debut in the GP3 Series at the end of the week at Spa-Francorchamps, in the penultimate event of the season, running as support to the Formula One World Championship race.

The Swiss came to a last minute agreement with Jenzer Motorsport and will step in to replace Italian Vittorio Ghirelli.

ALEX FONTANA:
“This is one of the possibilities which open up in the career of a racing driver, and which you really can’t say no to. I’d like to thank the team, Jenzer Motorsport, for having contacted me and to thank my current Team Corbetta Competizioni, who released me to drive on this occasion. To compete in the Formula 1 environment is a dream come true. I have never seen the GP3 car and don’t know it, so I don’t know what will be possible, because I’ll only have the one free practice session. I will try not to worry too much and to take in the experience, and to do everything step by step“.

ANDREAS JENZER:
“Alex has won in Formula 3 at Spa-Francorchamps this year; and is therefore one of the logical candidates for us to run in our race car. Despite him not having ever driven a GP3 Series car before, he knows the circuit at Spa very well and has always been very quick there; and we will do our best to enable him to have a positive debut.”
