GP3 TEST AT RAINY BUDAPEST

GP3-Series

The GP3 Series teams travelled to Budapest (HU) for a two day official test on 5th/6th June 2013. The complete field of 27 drivers were all there, with Samin Gomez, Patric Niederhauser and Alex Fontana for Jenzer Motorsport. There was some sunshine, but the rain was the prevalent feature, which yet again made the planned testing work very difficult.

The first day started with a damp track which dried off quite quickly. By midday the order showed Alex in 5th, Patric in 9th and Samin in 22nd. The rain started up again in the afternoon but wasn’t too heavy, so we proceeded to do some preparation work for the next race. An hour before the end of the session the track finally dried out again and Samin managed a very good run which moved her up to 15th, while Patric and Alex were 22nd and 24th respectively. Before anyone could find any more time, the session had to be stopped prematurely because the rain was now hammering down and had flooded the circuit.

The second day started grey and damp, and a few laps later the rain once more set in. The track only dried out a little in the last few minutes of the morning, leading to an outbreak of frantic activity both in the pitlane and on the track. At the end of the morning Patric and Alex were 9th and 10th respectively, while Samin had closed the gap to the front. On this demanding circuit she was now 21st in a very close field. After lunch once again we only managed a few dry laps, before another deluge hit the area. The session had to be stopped for well over half an hour and when it finally restarted, several incidents occurred in rapid succession, causing the session to be stopped prematurely.

The second race event of the 2013 GP3 Series takes place on the weekend of 15th/16th June 2013 on the permanent circuit at Valencia (E).
