2010 saw the launch of the new GP3 Series, based on the GP2 philosophy and its values: performance, cost control, entertainment, safety and preparation. The new series has been designed to make it the perfect driver training ground for GP2 and Formula One.
Jenzer Motorsport is one of the 10 teams selected from more than 40 applicants for a place in the series. The team runs three cars in the eight rounds (two races per round/weekend) which are run as part of programme of the European F1 Grand Prix weekends. In 2012 the GP3 Series went to Monaco for the first time, and in 2013 the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was the final race of the year. In 2014 two events will take place outside Europe, one in Sochi (RUS), and one in Abu Dhabi (UAE). For the first time ever the series consists of 9 events which all feature as support acts to the Formula 1 GPs.

The second generation car, which will run from until 2015, has now been designed and developed and has completed its first season in 2013. The technical and philosophical concepts behind this new machine are aimed at making the GP3/13 a faster and more powerful car, thanks to its naturally aspirated 400bhp engine. Although the car has the same level of downforce, its design has been modified to include a new nose, sidepods and engine cover, which makes it 3 to 4 seconds a lap quicker on average than its predecessor.
