10th April 2019

CAPRICIOUS WEATHER AT THE TESTS IN BARCELONA

FIA F3

The 10 teams of the FIA F3 Championship met on 9th / 10th April 2019 for further official test days at the Catalunya Circuit in Barcelona (E). Changeable weather accompanied the days.

The sun shone on the first morning. Our team tested different settings. Before noon Yuki was in 21st place, Andreas was 27th and Artem 29th. During the lunch break heavy rain fell and in the afternoon the track was wet. There were several breaks due to red flag phases after incidents. Only right at the end of the session did the track dry off. Andreas was 21st, Artem 22nd and Yuki 25th.

The second morning is usually used to carry out a qualifying session. But with a damp track several incidents caused red flag phases, and it was very difficult to achieve a fast lap. Before noon, the track was finally dry and all 30 vehicles were on the hunt for fast lap times. Artem was placed 21st, Yuki 23rd and Andreas 27th.

In the afternoon, the weather calmed down and racing simulations could be driven. Later on rain started falling again which meant that lap times were not improved anymore. Yuki claimed 4th at the end, Artem 11th and Andreas 18th.

Next week, the last two official pre-season test days will be on the program in Budapest. Then we will be looking forward to the beginning of the race season, which takes place on the weekend of 12th May 2019 at Barcelona, where FIA F3 will again be part of the support program for the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
