The fourth of eight race events featuring the FIA ADAC Formula 4 German Championship took place at the well known Oschersleben circuit (D). 33 drivers were entered for this event, which took place as a support act to the TCR race weekend program. The races can be followed live on Sport1 tv and on the official website under Live Streaming.
Qualifying
Friday, 17/06/2016, 13.50 – 14.35, Weather: Overcast, 18°C
This year the series regulations allow for the splitting of the large field into two groups, with each group having a 20-minute qualifying session. The fastest lap time for each driver sets the grid for Race One and the second fastest lap time is used to set the starting positions for Race Two. The grid for Race Three is determined by the results of Race One, with the first ten finishers starting in reverse order
Qualifying took place in the morning after two free practice sessions on a partly wet and partly dry track. The weather was very changeable and hard to predict.
Group A started out on a dry track, but two thirds into the session it started raining. Group B drove on a wet track.

Race One (30 minutes)
Saturday, 18/06/2016, 17.20, Weather: Sunny, 19°C
Our drivers started race 1 from 14th (Job), 21st (Fabio) and 23rd (Jan-Erik).
Shortly after the start there were several incidents in which a total of five cars were involved. Our drivers were lucky enough to get past the incidents with cars pointing in all directions. The field was re-gridded up after the start was aborted. The new start would be behind the Safety Car. When the Safety Car pulled in there were a few changes but not many. Lap times were very close throughout the field and now nobody seemed to want to take any risks. Job made up a place at the start and was then able to put pressure on Verschoor, but nevertheless he couldn’t find a way through. Job came home to a steady 13th place. Fabio had shot forward at the first start, but then had to restart from his initial grid position again. He tangled with another driver and had to visit the pit lane to have his front wing replaced. He rejoined the race for a few laps, but after a spin he came back to the pit lane for safety reasons and retired from the race. Jan-Erik drove well, and was able to avoid any incidents, holding onto his position to cross the finishing line in 18th.

Race Two (30 minutes)
Sunday, 19/06/2016, 09.40, Weather: Overcast, 16°C
At the start Job got into a fight with Hoogenboom and ended up on the grass, but was able to rejoin the pack. He had, however, fallen back to 13th. Fabio made a good start and began to try and make up places, while behind him Jan-Erik had made a really super start and was now right behind Fabio. When Fabio left his braking late Jan-Erik managed to get past putting them 16th and 17th. Jan-Erik drove a strong race, and later on he was able to pass Nielsen as well. He was now 15th and embroiled in the tough midfield scrap. He survived to hang onto 15th to the end. Fabio needed a moment to regain his rhythm after an exciting first part of the race. He drove well, but it was not easy to overtake and he was 17th at the chequered flag. Job managed to fight his way back up behind Hoogenboom and then made a brilliant overtaking manoeuvre. He set some very good lap times to close the gap to the group ahead of him. Towards the end of the race he launched an attack on Müller-Crepon and succeeded in making it stick. That meant Job crossed the finish line in 11th. After the race the third-placed man, Preining, was excluded from the results because of a technical infringement. That promoted all our drivers one place and meant Job scored the final point for finishing 10th.

Race Three (30 minutes)
Sunday, 19/06/2016, 17.15, Weather: Overcast, 17°C
For some reason there was an additional green flag lap at the start of Race 3 which meant the race time had to be adjusted to 27 minutes. The start went well with Jan-Erik charging forwards on the right side to make up several places. After the first lap he came back in 13th. Job on the other hand lost a few places and was 17th while Fabio had improved to 29th. The race was hard and there was a lot of overtaking throughout the field. Jan-Erik was up for more and had already moved up to 11th place, Job was in 15th and Fabio was 24th when Drugovich spun off and the Safety Car had to be deployed. Shortly before the restart the field bunched right up, causing several incidents. The red flag was waved and the cars returned to the grid for another restart. With 10 minutes left on the clock the restart was controlled by the Safety Car. Because several cars could not restart, Jan-Erik was now up in 8th, Job in 11th and Fabio in 19th place. After the restart Job managed to pass Floersch and make it stick which put him in the top ten. When Schumacher was handed a drive through penalty for overtaking under yellow flags, Jan-Erik moved up to 7th and Job to 9th. Then Feller had an accident and the Safety Car had to be deployed again. This time the race was not restarted and it finished behind the Safety Car. Fabio reached the finishing line in 14th.
The next race meeting in the ADAC Formula 4 series takes place in 5 weeks’ time, on the week end of 24th July 2016 at the RedBull Ring (A).
