FWS F4 begins in Portimão (P) - Severiukhin shines with two rookie podiums - Frey and Harrison in the top ten
The FWS F4 Winter Series was very well received also this year, and a total of 30 drivers registered. The young drivers want to prepare as well as possible for the new season. From end of January to mid March we are racing in four events on four different major circuits in Spain and Portugal, with three sprint races per event, in order to gain as much experience as possible.
The first race weekend took place on the demanding and technical track in the hinterland of Portimão in the beautiful Portuguese Algarve. The weather was initially cool with strong winds and the last remnants of heavy rain, but it became a little friendlier and warmer every day.

The starting grid for the second race will be based on the 2nd fastest time per driver from Q1. The excitement was high as the 30 vehicles set off for the first qualifying of the 2025 FWS F4 Winter Series. For Artem it was his very first qualifying in a Formula car. But actually everyone was a bit nervous at the first event of the year!

FWS F4 Winter Series
Race One (30 Min + 1 lap)
Saturday, 01/02/25, 11.40, Weather: Cloudy, 13°C
The start of the first race of the FWS Winter Series was on time. The young drivers didn't give each other an inch from the start, and it was a tough fight right from the start. Enea got off to a great start and moved up to 8th position, and Bart worked his way up to 13th place. Artem had mastered his first start in a formula car well and was in 20th place. Alba got off to a good start and was in 27th place. An exciting race began. Enea was battling with Rehm, the two touched and Enea lost some momentum. This dropped him back to 9th place. Enea was driving in the middle of a very fast group. Bach practically drove under Enea's gearbox, braked too hard and pushed Enea off the track. Unfortunately, that was the end of Enea's race. The safety car was deployed, and the positions in the field became close again. Bart moved up to 10th place, Artem was 14th and Alba 20th. It took a few laps before the track was cleared again. There was now only one race lap left to complete. Bart moved up to 9th place, Artem fought his way up to 12th place, and Alba was already 18th. Our drivers finished in these positions. After the race, several penalties were handed out. Unfortunately, Artem was involved in a collision and was given a 5-second time penalty. This meant he lost 2nd place in the rookie ranking and dropped to 22nd place. The driver who had bumped into Enea was also penalized with 5 seconds. This meant that Bart moved up to an excellent 8th place, and Alba was now 16th overall, which meant 4th place in the rookie ranking.

Race Two (30 Min + 1 lap)
Sunday, 01/02/25, 15.30, Weather: Cloudy, 16°C
The second FWS race followed on Saturday afternoon. Dark clouds with a lot of wind moved over the track, but it stayed dry. The large field got off to a good start, but soon part of a front wing was on the track and a vehicle had to be cleared away. The safety car was deployed. Enea was already in 7th place, Bart was in 9th, Artem was in 15th place and Alba had worked her way up to 16th place. After the restart, it was tough and there were no big gaps in the field. Enea moved up to 6th place, then Enea managed to overtake Sammalisto cleanly after some resistance from him and took 5th place. Bart was doing well in 8th place when he was surprised by Kostic on the very last lap and crossed the finish line in 9th place. Artem had already learned a lot in the first race and applied it now. He got off to a good start and swiftly made his way forward without any damage. He reached the finish line in 12th place, which now secured him a super 2nd place in the rookie ranking. He kept this trophy! Alba had a strong second race. She was soon behind Artem and managed to keep 16th place until the checkered flag. This put her once again in an exquisite 4th place in the rookie ranking. After the race, there were several penalties, and Enea was also affected. This dropped him to 8th place.

Race Three (30 Min + 1 lap)
Sunday, 02/02/25, 09.15, Weather: Cloudy, humid, 13°C
Just before the start procedure began, dark clouds moved over the track and dumped some moisture. The field was not entirely in agreement about the tyre choice and a handful of drivers chose slick tyres. After the first start, the red flag was raised because the starting lights were not fully working. Back in the fast lane of the pit lane, a few more drivers switched to rain tyres. The race began with two laps behind the safety car. When the race was given the go-ahead, Bart gained two places and was now in 8th place, with Enea right behind him in 9th. Artem coped very well in the wet and was already 13th. Alba did very well too and moved up to 21st. The track dried out very slowly as the race progressed and the conditions remained slippery and challenging until the end. Everyone drove with a lot of respect and did not take any unnecessary risks. On the last lap, Enea managed to overtake Bart and finished in 7th place. Bart followed closely behind in 8th place. Artem fought until the end and overtook more competitors in great moves. He secured an excellent 10th place overall and 3rd place on the rookie podium, as well as shone with the fastest lap of the race. Alba finished in 20th place. Alba had done very well in every race and brought her vehicle to the finish without an accident each time. In this race, three of our vehicles finished in the top ten, which was a very good team effort.
After the third race, parts of Maxim Rehm's vehicle were found not to comply with the regulations and the driver was disqualified from the entire race weekend. This meant that our drivers moved up one place in every result.
