The sixth of seven races of the Italian FIA F4 Championship took place on the demanding GP circuit at Barcelona (E). A large field of 32 cars were registered.

Qualifying

Saturday, 28/09/24, 09.00 – 09.15 Q1, Weather: Sunny, 12°C
Saturday, 28/09/24, 09.25 – 09.40 Q2

The rules allow for two qualifying sessions of 15 minutes, with a 10-minute break in between. The Qualifying 1 times determine the grid for Race 1 and the times from Qualifying 2 determine the grid for Race 2. The starting order for Race 3 is based on the 2^nd best lap time of each driver in either of the two qualifying sessions.

During the qualifying sessions on Saturday morning temperatures were rather cool. Our drivers were not attacking enough in the first session, that’s why it was difficult to improve enough in the second session.

Race One (30 minutes + 1 lap)

Saturday, 28/09/24, 12.40, Weather: Sunny, 21°C

At the start of the first race, Bohra was didnt move from pole position. The large field managed to get past him without damage. Reno had to take evasive action and was therefore somewhat unfavourably positioned. Others had the same experience, and positions changed several times on the first lap. Reno moved into 13^th place. He managed to get past Pradel and held on to 12^th place over the next few laps. The safety car had to be deployed and the field closed in again. Ethan defended 21^st place after the start and Enea moved past Ethan into 20^th place at the restart. But Ethan regained the position and improved to 17^th place. Enea moved up to 19^th place. The safety car had to be deployed again and Ethan took 16^th place at the restart. Enea collided with another car and had to go to the pit lane with a damaged front wing. Since the race only lasted a few minutes more he was not sent out again. Ethan gained another place after the restart and finished in 15^th place. Reno had lost a place to Pradel at the first restart, but because Nakamura Berta fell back, he remained in 12^th place. Nakamura Berta was directly behind Reno, and at the next restart, Reno had to admit defeat to Nakamura Berta, not without putting up a pretty good fight first. Reno finished in a good 13^th place.

Race Two (30 minutes + 1 lap)

Sunday, 29/09/24, 11.10, Weather: Wolkig, 23°C

At the start, several cars didn't get off to a good start and there was an accident. The safety car had to take over the field immediately and it took a long time to clear the three cars. Unfortunately, Enea was also involved. He returned to the pits, but his car was too badly damaged and his race was already over. At the restart, there were still 15 minutes left until the end of the race. Ethan got off to a good start and first improved to 16^th place, then to 14^th after the restart. In the final laps there was some movement in the midfield and Ethan was also involved in the battles. He managed to get past Robinson and cross the finish line in a good 13^th place. Reno had chosen his worst tires for this race and managed to finish in 20^th place, the same place he had started from.

Race Three (30 minutes + 1 lap)

Sunday, 29/09/24, 17.20, Weather: Bedeckt, 20°C

The third race started late on Sunday afternoon. Reno got off to a great start and was already in 11^th place after two laps. He even managed to fight his way up to 9^th place, but Reno braked too late and Powell took that place back. Then Sammalisto put pressure on him from behind and Reno and Powell collided. The two flew off the track and got stuck in the gravel trap. The safety car had to take over the field. Ethan had gone off the track after the start and had fallen far behind. During the race he improved again to 23^rd place. After the restart he managed to make up more places, so that he crossed the finish line in 19^th place. Enea started very well and was steadily making progress. He was already in 18^th place and after the restart he managed to make up several places. He overtook Gowda and was now in 11^th place. He also managed to get past Olivieri in a brave move on the last lap and snatch the last available point with 10^th place. Well done!
