JANNES FITTJE JOINS THE GP3 SERIES

GP3-Series

We are pleased to announce a new driver for our team from the next race of the GP3 Series at the Hungaroring (Hungary) at the end of this week. This race is as ever a support act on the Formula 1 race program.

From July 27th Jannes Fittje starts a new chapter in his motorsport career. The 18-year-old junior driver joins the GP3 Series and competes as part of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship programme. With high hopes he is looking forward to his first race at the Hungaroring in Hungary, as he takes another step closer to the goal of Formula One. After success in the European Formula 3 Open series, the youngster who is part of the Deutsche Post-supported Speed Academy, now joins the GP3 Series. The racing series is part of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship framework and is regarded as a preliminary stage en route to the premier class.

Jannes starts for Team Jenzer Motorsport. The team from Switzerland has a lot of experience in the series and has already celebrated numerous successes there. Nevertheless, the step up will not be easy for the 18-year-old rookie. "I already know the Hungaroring in Hungary from Formula 3, which is a big advantage, but the car is completely different. We now have over 400 bhp and, like in Formula 1, DRS. I have to learn to handle this. But I'm looking forward to the challenge and feel very well looked after in Andreas Jenzer’s team," says Jannes, who is looking forward to his debut.

Andreas Jenzer: "We are pleased to welcome Jannes to our team. He has done the maximum preparation possible in the simulator and with our engineers, and we are looking forward to seeing him race in our car."
