JENZER MOTORSPORT 2018:
Tatiana Calderon (COL), Juan Manuel Correa (USA) and David Beckmann (D)
Calderon in the top ten at Silverstone
The GP3 Series reconvened on the demanding Silverstone Circuit, racing as one of the support races for the Formula 1 British Grand Prix. This was their fourth outing supporting the 2018 Grand Prix programme. Even in free practice on Friday morning it was clear that the strong field would produce a very close fight for places.
Race One Qualifying
Friday, 06/07/18, 17.05 – 17.35, Weather: Sunny, 27°C
In the morning it was still cool for free practice, and the track was dry providing optimum conditions. David finished in an excellent 7th place, Tatiana was 18th, and Manuel was 19th. They didn't need all their tyres and wanted to save them for qualifying.
In the afternoon it was sunny and hot at Silverstone. Our drivers did their best, but at the end Juan Manuel was 15th, David 16th, and Tatiana 17th.

Race One (40 Minutes)
Saaturday, 07/07/18, 09.25, Weather: Cloudy 22°C
The start took place on time but immediately Juan Manuel made contact with Falchero, the two flying across the track. The Virtual Safety Car had to be used while the marshals cleared the two cars away. As soon as the race went live again there was another incident, this time between Aubry and Tatiana. Although Tatiana carried on initially, she had to park the car a little further on. This meant the race was already over for two of our drivers, and the Virtual Safety Car had to be deployed again. David made a good job of the restart and was in 13th place. Lorandi, who stalled at the start, was on his way through the field and was pushing hard as he did. A few laps from the end he found a way past David, leaving David to come home safely in 14th place. Aubry was given a three grid place penalty after the race for the incident with Tatiana, and would start from the back of the grid for race two.
The grid for the second race of the weekend was set by reversing the order of the first eight finishers in the first race, with the rest of the places set according to finishing order in the first race.

Race Two (30 Minutes)
Sunday, 08/07/18, 08.05, Weather: Sunny, 21°C
Early in the morning the weather was already very warm and pleasant. David held onto 13th place after the start, Tatiana made it to 14th after a first flying lap, and Juan Manuel was 19th. There was some movement in the field, and when Menchaca dropped back, Tatiana was able to push her way past David. She was now 12th, with David in 13th, and then Hughes made his move on Boccolacci, which let Tatiana close the gap quickly and begin a tough fight. She couldn't pass Boccolacci, but David saw his chance and got past Tatiana, which meant he was 11th and Tatiana was 12th. David was in pursuit of Boccolacci when Mawson dropped back and unluckily they clashed. David ended up in the gravel trap, which stopped his charge into the top ten. Tatiana, however, didn't put a foot wrong and was able to benefit. She was now 10th and safely crossed the finish line in her first top ten position this season after a very good race. Juan Manuel had moved up several places over the course of the race and took the chequered flag in 15th place.
We look forward to the next race, which takes place in three weeks time, on the weekend of July 29th, 2018, at the Hungaroring
