Press Release 14 / 2013

4th April 2013

GP3 TEST AT ICY SILVERSTONE

GP3-Series

For the last two test days prior to the first race of 2013 the GP3 Series teams met up on 3rd/4th April at Silverstone (GB). Again the entire field turned out with 27 drivers each day, including Samin Gomez, Patric Niederhauser and Alex Fontana for Jenzer Motorsport. The weather was so bad you would not have turned a dog out of the house in it, with temperatures barely edging above 0°C on both days.

The morning of day one started with an icy track, and the teams had to wait a long time before anyone could even run any installation laps. It was only in the last hour before midday that most people headed for a test run. Alex was quickly up to 4th, Paric was 12th and Samin was 24th by lunchtime. Some more mileage was possible in the afternoon, but our team didn’t even use all the available tyres. It didn’t help that Samin was not very well, having gone down with the ‘flu, so she retreated to the hotel early. At the end of the day Alex was 8th, Patric 15th and Samin 25th.

At the start of day two there was a scattering of snow! Samin was now so ill that she didn’t feel able to drive and stayed back at the hotel. Alex ended the morning 3rd with Patric in 18th. In the afternoon it just kept on snowing so the team spent their time on preparation work for the races.

We are now looking forward to the start of the racing season.
